Australian Charity Regular Introduces New Legitimacy Tick For Organisations

Australian Charities Would Befit Hugely If People Left Bequests

Have you ever gotten the feeling that the organisation you are donating money to is not quite as well-meaning at it claims to be? Well there is a solution to this problem. The Australian Charities and Not-For-Profit Commission (ACNC) which regulates charities in Australia has released a new ” Registered Charity Tick”. The purpose of the tick to get rid of all doubt by ensuring the legitimacy and trustworthiness of the organisation you are donating too will be marked.

Robert Dunn the Chief Executive Officer of Opportunity International Australia, whose organisation was given a tick by the ACNC says it provides confirmation of which charitable organisation is doing the right thing and which is not.

“It gives donors confidence about the integrity of the charity they support and the responsible stewardship of their donations,” Mr Dunn said in a statement.

Reassuring the public

According to a statement posted on the ACNC website the purpose of the tick to is reassure the public that any charity they are donating too is both transparent and accountable by emphasising its presence on the agency’s Charity Register. Australians who are thinking about making a charitable donation over the holiday season, or at any other time of the year for that matter are being strongly encouraged to check the Register before they give money to see more details about the charity they wish to support
