Celebrate Day For Change with UNICEF Australia

Not long now until the universal Children’s Day, which will be celebrated across the glob on Wednesday 26th October 2011. UNICEF Australia will be celebrating themselves with their ‘Day for Change’, which will be aiming to attract more people to the rights of children and help take action for those who are living in extreme poverty.

Schools across Australia will be taking part in the celebrations to support the children of Timor-Leste, where up to 60% of poor attendance at schools is due to a lack of toilet facilities. Up to 180,000 children in Australia will be involved in the UNICEF ‘Walk for Water’ challenge, which will show the participants what it’s like to have no clean water readily available.

All funds raised will go towards helping UNICEF charity officials to continue their hard work in providing food, medicine, education, and of course clean water, to people in Timor-Leste and beyond who require daily assistance in these services that we take for granted. Be sure to spare a thought, and some money if you can, on Children’s Day on Wednesday 26th October this year, and help those people who really need it the most.
