Some 3.7 million people are in desperate need of assistance in Somalia, with a staggering 1.85 million of them children. Jacki, a famous Australian television and film actress, Jacki Weaver, has launched a video campaign for UNICEF to ask for your help in providing much needed funds for those in the world who need it the most.

Jacki said –

East Africa is in horrendous crisis. Tiny children are dying in their mothers arms. Drought, famine and conflict are impacting on 11 million people, with 2 million children in desperate need of food, water and basic health care. UNICEF is ready to step up its response but we urgently need your assistance. You can help to make sure that more innocent children don’t die.

Somalia is currently central to the African famine crisis, with 11 million people are at risk of death and disease in Somalia, Kenya, Ethiopia and Djibouti. This crisis is not only about food, as malnourished children are even more susceptible to diseases such as measles, malaria, diarrhoea and pneumonia. UNICEF workers are currently on the frontline trying to provide access to food, clean water and medicine for those effected.

It’s thanks to your kind donations that they can continue to carry out their life saving work. If you can help provide funds please do, as the people of Africa need the world’s support right now in the time of crisis.
